Cardiff City Council are looking to bring in a Specialist Social Worker, with significant post qualify experiences, to manage a defined caseload of Children subject to Placement Orders. You will be part of a Child Protection Team within the North Locality who case hold CASP, CP, PLO and Court cases. The team have an experienced and long-standing permanent Team Manager and two Principle Social Workers, newly qualified and experienced social workers alongside several social work assistants.

About the job
We are looking for an experienced social worker to manage a defined caseload of children subject to Placement Orders. Your role will be crucial in the progression of children’s journey through being matched, placed with adopters, through to their Adoption Order being granted, whilst also helping to develop best practise with Adoption services. Where children could not be successfully matched, you will provide the role in reviewing and progressing a change in their care plan, discharging Placement Orders in a timely way and identifying alternative long-term plans. This will require experience of court.
You will be working in a busy, supportive skilled team that aim to make a positive impact to children and their families in order to improve their safety and well-being.
You will need to be a Social Worker with significant post qualifying experience and experience of Court Proceedings and Adoption work.
What We Are Looking For From You
We are looking for an experienced Social Worker. The successful candidates must have robust safeguarding, child protection experience and be confident with court proceedings and Adoption. The candidate will have the opportunity to support less experienced staff when applying for Placement Orders and Children who are already subject to Placement Orders.
Due to the nature of the role candidates must have front line post qualifying experience in child protection services. A degree in Social Work is essential for this role, as well as excellent skills in assessment and the ability to write concise records and reports. You will be a good team player, have excellent communication, organisation skills and IT skills.
Additional information
With effect from 1st April 2024, these roles attract a market supplement of £5,000 (full time equivalent). (£43,223 - £47,403). This payment is reviewed on a 12 monthly basis.
