The Logistics and Mail Services team at UCL offers a centralised service for receiving, storing, and distributing goods for all UCL departments, as well as managing vehicle traffic on and around campus. The team is located in the central post room at the Institute of Education and is an essential service that provides delivery and collection services across the entire UCL campus.
- Transfer and deliver Logistics Centre stock to departments and marshal and control the safe movement of vehicles on campus
- Collect, sort and process all incoming and outgoing post following operating procedures and divisional policies.
- Prepare outgoing post ready for collection at the designated time including the operation of franking and other equipment.
- Maintain accurate records for the receipt and dispatch of special deliveries including parcels, packages and courier items.
- Ensure that the receipt of all special delivery items is recorded and make arrangements for prompt delivery.
- Ensure that all out-going mail is sent by the correct methods and carrier.
- Operate fleet vehicles including cargo bikes. Maintain vehicle log books and daily vehicle checks.
- Promote excellent customer service 8. Arrange and order courier service nationally and internationally
- Process, deliver and move stock items including chemical and flammable materials/liquid requiring specialized training
- Traffic control and management as and when required which requires specialist banksman training
- Adapt and plan daily courier delivery routes according to items received.
- Carry out Postal service admin duties and associated record keeping.
- Experience in goods receipt/delivery/distribution.
- Experience of driving vehicles in London or comparable environment.
- Experience of vehicle marshalling and control on busy, occupied sites.
- A good understanding and practical experience of safe working practices in a similar environment.
