The
London Symphony Orchestra is built on the belief that extraordinary music should be available to everyone, everywhere. LSO’s Marketing team grows audiences for the Orchestra, both in the concert hall and digitally. The team drives ticket sales and grows audience-generated revenues for LSO concerts; raises the profile of the Orchestra around the world; and deepens audience engagement in the Orchestra’s music. There are eight members of staff in the team, working across marketing campaigns, audience development, editorial and publications, digital content and communications, brand management and audience insight.
The Marketing Assistant supports all areas of the LSO Marketing team's work, gaining experience across a broad range of areas – promoting LSO events at the Barbican and LSO St Luke’s, researching and connecting with new audiences, creating content for the website and social media, reporting on audience feedback and research, and providing customer service support to our audience members.
What You'll Be Doing
- Contributing to marketing campaigns for concerts at the Barbican and LSO St Luke's, with opportunities to learn about the full marketing process and take responsibility for your own projects.
- Promoting LSO Discovery events and projects.
- Evaluating and reporting on audience feedback and survey responses.
- Writing promotional and pre-concert/post-concert emails to audience members.
- Creating digital and accessible versions of concert programmes.
- Creating content for the LSO website and social media, and developing copy-writing skills.
- Updating the LSO website.
- Providing administrative support to the LSO Marketing team.
- Responding to customer service enquiries and feedback.
What We're Looking For
- An interest in orchestral music and in learning how an arts organisation is run behind-the-scenes.
- A desire to pursue a career in marketing and/or the arts and culture sector.
- Good time-management skills, and an ability to manage and prioritise workload.
- Someone who is computer-literature and able to pick up new systems quickly.
- Able to communicate effectively with a range of people, inside and outside the LSO, with a positive approach to customer service.
- A team player, enthusiastic about learning new skills and getting involved in new projects.
