The role:
Ground Operations Agent
Do you enjoy working in a lively and dynamic environment where every day is different? We are excited to be recruiting for individuals to join our Ground Operations team at Heathrow Airport. The role will be based at either Terminal 3 or Terminal 5, depending on our operational needs and as a ground operations agent, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring a flawless journey for our customers.
Your shifts will vary between early and late start times, currently shifts are 8.5 hrs in length with the earliest start time being as early as 04:00am and the latest finish time being as late as 00:30am. Given the nature of this role, you must be available to cover the above shift times, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including Bank Holidays and religious festivals. This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions, from working in heat to freezing cold, rain or shine, so you must be prepared to face diverse environmental challenges throughout the year.

What you’ll do:
As one of our ramp colleagues, your responsibilities will include the on-the-day delivery of our aircraft, including baggage handling at Heathrow Airport. You'll also:
- Prepare aircraft for arrival and departure.
- Load and unload customer baggage, cargo, and approved items onto the aircraft including lifting items up to 32kg.
- Deliver customer baggage to designated collection/drop-off points.
- Undertake airside logistics activities for safe and timely aircraft arrivals and departures.
- Carry out safety checks whilst also raising and reporting any issues.
- Work in line with our Standard Operating Procedures, with a particular focus on Safety and Flight Punctuality.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities and maintain a safe, secure, and effective customer baggage operation at LHR.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- A Full manual UK driving licence, with at least 12 months of driving experience and no more than 3 points
- Unrestricted right to live and work in the UK
- Ability to acquire and retain an airside ID
Your experience:
- Physical fitness to handle manual tasks, including lifting items up to 32kg at height continuously. This role can involve lifting bags above shoulder height throughout the day (which could be up to 250-300 bags)
- Good interpersonal skills
- Resilience to handle outdoor shift work in varying weather conditions.
