Good news!! We are currently recruiting to our front door of Children’s Services, what we call our Children’s Resource Service, and inviting applications from experienced, positive and forward-thinking Social Workers wishing to join us here in Southampton. We have some exciting things happening to better support our children and families.
About the team:
You will join an energetic and dynamic team determined to ensure children and their families are linked with the right help at the right time to support their needs.
The team is in the process of changing how we do things and we are moving to a ‘conversation model’ of practice. This means moving away from a written online form to focus on having engaging conversations with our partner agencies and families to really understand the needs and what intervention and support would best meet those.
We are committed to continue providing the best service we can for our children and families. Here in Southampton we have received a ‘Good’ outcome from Ofsted during our most recent inspection with a grading of ‘Outstanding’ in respect of the impact of leaders. We recognise that for workers to be at their best to support families, they need the right support from their leaders in learning opportunities, consistent meaningful supervision, and a positive work environment.
We promote relational practice and believe that positive and open relationships with each other, with our colleague agencies and with our families are essential to helping create change and supporting families.
About the role:
You will be well supported, working in a challenging environment that is fast paced. You will be responsible for making decisions on contacts that come into our team and having conversations with families and referrers to ensure families are receiving the right help at the right time . This is not a case holding team.
You will work closely with our multi agency partners who sit within the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), an integral part of Children’s Resource Service. You will develop relationships with colleagues across education, health, police, probation, housing, domestic abuse services, substance misuse and adult social care colleagues.
This post will offer the opportunity to:
- develop extensive partnership working with the Police, Health, Education and other partner agencies
- develop skills in having rich conversations with partners and families to ensure we are intervening at the earliest opportunity to get families the right support and prevent escalations to risk of harm for children and their families
- raise your profile in Multi Agency Partnerships.
- Become engaged in other Multi Agency meetings such as our MARAC meetings
- Become engaged in supporting other agencies in understanding the role of Children’s Resource Service which includes a presence at other forums such as Designated Safeguarding Leads meetings and joining other agency’s team meetings to ensure effective communication and relationship building across the services
- Maintain close links with our colleagues in the area teams such as our Family Help and Family Safeguarding teams, participating in reflecting discussions with other teams to consider creative ways of engaging with families
